How we measure our garments

We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to find preloved clothing that fits. This is why we take comprehensive measurements of each garment.

We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to find preloved clothing that fits. This is why we take comprehensive measurements of each garment.
  • Chest: This measurement is taken around the body directly under the arms.
  • Across Back: Back measurements are taken across the shoulder blades from each sleeve seam.
  • Waist: We take waist measurements around the smallest part of a top or dress’s middle, or the waistband of trousers or skirts. This measurement is taken all the way around the garment as opposed to left to right.
  • Hip: Hip measurements are taken at the widest point below the waist in a similar way to waist measurements.
  • Leg Length: This measurement is taken as the inside leg measurement from crotch to ankle.
  • Top of Arm: We take the top of arm measurement from under the armpit and around the arm.
  • Sleeve Length: Sleeve length is taken from the point under the armpit to the wrist or edge or the garments hem.
  • Length: Length of tops or dresses is taken from under the armpit to the bottom hem.
  • Fit: Fit describes the way in which the item would fit an average person of the size it is made for or the way in which it fits.

Style And Alteration Suggestions

Style And Alteration Suggestions

Our style and alteration suggestions give you advice on how to wear a garment, and how it will fit. This can include more detail about stretch and movement as well as fit.

We also try to include ways in which an item can be altered, for example, generous seam allowance or tucks in the fabric.
